About Edmonton

With a metropolitan population of more than one million, the greater Edmonton area offers all the services of a major urban centre while maintaining a friendly, clean and safe environment.

Edmonton's downtown overlooks the city's greatest asset - the North Saskatchewan River Valley. Ninety-seven kilometers of biking, hiking skiing and walking trails run through the city along the edges of the river. Edmonton has one of the longest interlinked area of urban parkland in North America.

Edmonton is home several professional sports teams, including the Edmonton Eskimos and the Edmonton Oilers.

Edmonton transit offers extensive  bus routes and a Light Rail Transit System (LRT)
